William P. Coley, II
Former Senator Bill Coley served for 16 consecutive years in the Ohio General Assembly, exceeding his term limits. He held various roles during his tenure, including 10 years as a Committee Chairman and all 16 years as a member or vice chairman of the Judiciary/Civil Justice Committees. He played a key role in establishing the Joint Medicaid Oversight Committee, the Correctional Institution Inspection Committee, and the Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission. Additionally, he represented Ohio as a delegate to the Assembly of State Legislatures.
Senator Coley’s legislative experience and innovative efforts have earned him recognition and awards from various organizations, such as the Foundation for Government Accountability, the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, and the American Kennel Club. He has been invited to speak nationally and internationally on a range of legislative issues, including payment systems, pharmacy benefit management, educational distance learning, elections operations, and sports betting and gaming policy.
In addition to his political career, Senator Coley has worked as a business and litigation attorney for over 35 years, specializing in bankruptcy and real estate matters. He is highly regarded in the legal field, holding an AV Preeminent rating and licenses to practice law in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. He has successfully resolved numerous high-value cases involving breach of contract, fraud, and tort matters.
Senator Coley is actively involved in his community, supporting governmental, senior citizens, and animal rescue organizations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Dayton and a law degree from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys flying as an instrument-rated pilot. He resides in Liberty Township, Ohio, with his wife Carolyn, their two old English sheepdogs (Wilby and Elwood), and their cat Henry.
